The H Buffer is a heavy buffer designed to reduce felt recoil as well as reduce the cycling rate on full-auto rifles. It is designed to mil-spec standards for use in AR15 carbines with a collapsible buttstock. Please use caution when adding a heavy buffer to your rifle build as too heavy of a buffer can prevent reliable function. Not much to say…it is a nice looking buffer…I got an H1 weight and it seems to work well. Purchased it with a flat spring, which seems to be a good combination. With a flat spring there is little 'twang' and works well.

Solid Buffer. The heavier weight is nice. Less recoil. More manageable movements. Heavy buffer but not much weight added to the gun. Still light weight. I'm thinking about switching out my other buffers as well.

I had the nylon bumper snap off the buffer on one of my older, high use ARs. (rare occurrence on stock gas system carbines) Original Smith M&P (pre-sport). Standard Carbine weight and purchased an H weight at the same time for another carbine. Both weighed in exactly as stated. Both work fine and construction / finish is solid. I don't need a bunch of fancy colors and graphics on a buffer. I just need them to work and both of these do in AR 556 platforms at an affordable price. Always great service, selection, shipping from Optics Planet. Dont waste your money on anything above this price range, Its just a buffer. Do your homework if new to AR platforms regarding buffer weights, letter designations (H, H1, H2, etc). You can easily order the wrong buffer weight for your needs. Spend that savings on ammo and training. Unless you are running subsonic and suppressed or playing with adjustable gas systems and having problems with ejection patterns, your stock buffer and spring will be just fine for the occasional shooter. Most non-competitive shooters can't detect the perceived softer recoil from a heavy buffer and spring swap anyway. Important takeaway…dont ignore your buffer and spring during routine cleaning. It takes 2 seconds. Keep an eye on the wear patterns on your buffer face. It can tell you a lot about the overall health of your carbine.

Good for balancing the shell extraction and always good to have a few spares, buffers do wear out.

Had to downgrade to an H from an H2 recoil buffer after putting an adjustable gas block on my Aero Build. The H recoil buffer fixed the short stroking and failure to lock back the bolt after last round issues. H2 was a bit to heavy I guess. Works perfectly now thanks to the new recoil buffer. Aero Precision makes a good recoil buffer and would definitely recommend.
