This steel castle nut features a low profile design. Once installed on the buffer tube, the nut provides strength and rigidity. The color matched melonite finish provides further protection against corrosive elements. Compatible with AR15/308DPMS/SR25 collapsible stocks, Dark Hour machined these out of 4140 alloy. Our customers have found many uses for this nut, including; AR15/308DPMS collapsible stocks, AR15 upper receivers with a DD endplate and various other uses where a steel castle nut is required. This is a nicely machined castle nut, however, it is different than the picture. Like the V seven castle nuts, there are wrench slots all around the nut, not just the normal 4 that are pictured.It doesn’t look horrible, it just isn’t as subtle as what is pictured. I was looking for a clean OEM look, but it’s okay.

Product itself is, in all likelihood, suitable for its task, however…. The picture does not match the product, and that was disappointing…. I was looking for a well QCd part with some kind of material pedigree that still looked like a regular, no nonsense castle nut. This has extra machining that deviates from the pattern of a traditional castle nut and is not what I thought I was buying.
