The DoubleStar Ambidextrious selector allows the operator to engage the selector from the left or right side. The shorter lever on the left side is perfect for both left or right-handed shooters giving enough real-estate to engage but not too much to be in the way while shooting right handed. This selector is machined from 8620 Steel and phosphate-coated black. A grooved interface and 1/16 hex head screw secures the small lever to the body for a solid lockup. I purchased this to put on an AR pistol build. I had heard that using an M16 selector with a semi auto fire control group will give you two safety points at the 3 oclock and 9 oclock positions. This gives you a choice when training. It isn't a full 90 degree selector. It falls somewhere between 45 and 90 degrees. It is a bit gritty, but, as with some of my other selectors, I'm sure it will smooth out once it's worn in a bit. If you're looking for an M16 select fire safety, they're hard to find. As long as you don't possess the select fire control group, this is a nice addition to a build. I Think I will buy another one for my SPR build.

Product was easily installed. Did not come with Allen wrench, so make sure you have the right one. I'm right handed and when shooting left handed I was able to use safety switch with a little effort, but should become easier with practice. Would recommend.

I bought this selector for "correct" appearance on an M4A1 clone. The detent snaps positively into place at the stops on this selector, but it feels and sounds like there's gravel in it when moving between the stops. Upon closer inspection, the groove that the detent rides in looks like it was gnawed out with a dull butter knife. There are pits and ridges that are never going "break in" and allow smooth operation. Since I'm past the return date and out $23, I'll have to try to smooth it out with a die grinder. Or throw it away. I should have paid attention to the previous reviews and not bought this junk.

Junk.. is too long by about 1/16 inch..slid sideways in frame..very rough in movement..DONT BUY ! save your time and many and try something else.I thought since it is listed as "Double Star" it would be decent,,not even close,,I wouldn't use it on a paint ball gun
