When designing new Lightweight Enhanced (LE) Castle Nut and End Plate System, we came up with two systems that virtually eliminates the risk of ycastle nut ever backing out. With two lockdown systems (K1 and K2), we’ve engineered a solution to install the castle nut onto the end plate that is not only robust, but also stands true to brand of innovation and ingenuity. The K1 system features a tapered castle nut that seals itself onto the end plate. This ultra precision snug fit allows the castle nut to seat and seal itself into place without the need of staking the end plate. No ratcheting, no set screws, no backing out and no failures. All of these features at only .59 oz / 16.8 grams! No torque wrench required, just tighten about 1/4 turn from hand tight. Very good product. I was looking for something aesthetically different from all the usual QD endplate/castle nut combos Ive used in the past, and the Fortis K1 caught my eye. After receiving it and installing, its clear that its more than just a visual upgrade. The threads are buttery smooth, the finish is bright and durable, and the tapered (no-stake) design works flawlessly. It seems to lock up tighter, with less torque, than any standard castle nut Ive installed, and I'm confident it wont be loosening up on its own anytime soon. As I hoped, it looks like it belongs on the lower, without being too flashy or bulky like some of its competitors models. I was so impressed with the quality of this small part, that I ordered Fortis's Muzzle Brake/Control Shield to finish off the build. Highly recommended!

While I've always opted for standard "mil-spec" parts, (if good enough for DoD, good enough for me!) however on a recent build, thought about trying something different opposed to staking another castle nut. Was going to try another company's "ratcheting" design, but ended up going with this; and glad I did! Very well thought out design, the 'taper fit' isn't going to loosen up and looks pretty slick too. Machined and finished perfectly, no imperfections. Price was great as well!

Used this with an Androcorp buffer tube. Looks great and tensioning mechanism functions well. I had to sand down the locator a bit though and I just about ran out of threads to get it on. Maybe I wasn't using the correct parts but looks and functions as intended. Would reccomend!

All of these tiny parts are so expensive but they sure do make your gun look custom and beautiful. Not to mention adding functionality with a QD hole for a sling. The tapered look is so nice and it makes the end look formed instead of just ending in a standard end plate. I recommend these, the K1 specifically, for all you builds.

I've always just ran mil spec castle nuts and end plates and figured I'd try something different. Glad that I did. The quality of the machining is excellent and it gives a nice solid lockup for a QD sling. Couldn't be easier to install. Not that milspec ones are hard but these can pretty much be done by hand, although I would recommend about 1/3 of a turn more with a castle nut wrench. To top it off they look great too. I've switched all my AR style rifles over to these.

K1 is tapered castle nut version and K2 is lever lock version. Both are fantastic and negate the necessity for staking castle nuts and allow for easier removal when necessary. Make sure you torque correctly and they will serve you indefinitely. Additionally they are ultra lightweight. Functionality between K1 & K2 are horse a piece although I prefer the K1 because I feel there is less likelihood of the lever failing, yet this is not supported by anything other than my personal option. Fortiss customer service is excellent and products are all top notch. Bonus, Optics Planet is an excellent company on all levels!
