Finally got to run this with my Maxim Defense CQB stock for my ar9mm build and I have to say this thing is awesome! I was kind of worried it would have trouble cycling given it stuck out past the lowers buffer tube threads, but sure enough! It sounds great as well. Highly recommend!!

This is a drop in fit for any milspec/commercial carbine length buffer tube. Functioned flawlessly, no "Sprong !!!" Sound and the recoil impulse is reduced slightly. Cycled all brands and types of 9mm ammo at varying gr weights. Worked well suppressed with all ammo types too. Bolt locks back as it should. Buying another for 308 carbine build.

Setups may vary, but mine is a typical AR9 PCC. Specs convieniently missing or wrong. Consider TOTAL price before you buy. The REAL numbers:SCSS minus shim; 316gMoving mass, includes spring but not rod, stop or screws; 209gStainless slug ea; 21g (.74oz) -incorrect specTungsten slug ea; 46g -not givenOriginal moving buffer mass, H2 buffer + spring; 209gBCG slug wt being removed and replaced by SCSS; 73gTotal moving mass target of original, bolt slug w/out bolt body which isn't changing + buffer; 282gThis unit was recommended by JP TS to add mass back from removing bolt slug to function. As is, comes up 12g (.42oz) short of original moving mass.Spring force is less than original. Added mass would be needed to compensate for lighter spring in addition to the lost 12g.Will need to swap 1-3 of the stainless slugs for tungsten. That's $40 to $120 in addition to the purchase price; $40 minimum to recover the missing 12g resulting in a net gain of 25g which may not be enough to compensate for the spring, which may also need to be replaced. If their marketing information was correct people would understand this compares even worse to other products such as Armaspec Stealth Recoil Spring, only $80, which reportedly functions the same or superior in some unspecified ways. I can't speak to that from experience but given the cost difference I suggest you take a hard look at other products. The JP system does allow weight and springs to be adjusted, as do others, but realize you most like will HAVE TO adjust it at significant extra cost. This is probably why many if not most people report not seeing a difference when installing this product and it's mostly recommended to reduce noise and improve smoothness. If being engineered and marketed to replace existing slug weight in a pcc, it should not require significant extra cost to make it work. $40 for a 9/16" length of tungsten tubing seems excessive and in all makes me feel like I'm being scammed. With standard AR9 pattern, A5 tube, SCSS length makes it nearly impossible to drop past hammer and get over retaining pin. I was able to litterally scrape it in by compressing the hammer down all the way, but some may need to remove their tube or trigger group to install or service. No noticable difference in recoil reduction or climb. Might be a little worse actually. Shifting weight to rear might offer a small advantage that most probably won't notice. If removing mass in your AR9 for faster harder cycling is your goal , this may be for you. But I would argue there are low/no cost ways to do that. To function for intended purpose you may need to add weight. I don't have extra weights or springs yet so time will tell if system is a net gain or loss. So far I'm regretting the purchase on cost alone and deceptive marketing.

As the title says, the JP SCS is an amazing part and I love How they operate. However, PAY ATTENTION to all details, optics planet does not use the manufactures part numbers as they claim so verifying the part is what you want is some extra work. This is the 9MM Carbine SHORT STROKE H2 SCS. I was trying to purchase the H2 carbine rifle SCS and missed the details, due to the 9mm caliber compatibility being in bad spot of the web page and it’s only mention. Good news, I’m building a 9mm in due time so I’ll just keep the part for that build.

Love this product. Although I ordered the wrong one, the others I have are awesome!!!!

Everyone touts these for reducing scratchy sound in the ear over a standard buffer and spring but the real benefit is recoil reduction, making the rifles shoot flat. These really smooth out the action, I have converted all my 5.56, 300 BO, 7.62×39 AR’s to these. Combine this with a geissele trigger and a good muzzle brake and/or a low back pressure suppressor and you won’t believe how much more fun your rifles are to shoot.
