This pivot pin has a spring loaded push button. When pushed, the stainless steel keeper pins retract for easy pin removal. Once the pin is in place, simply push the button and slide the stud over the retracting balls and release. Put your sling swivel into the stud and you are ready to place your sling on the rifle. This eliminates any weight on the barrel of the weapon. When sling swivel is inserted in the stud, the stud is locked onto the pin. You must remove the sling swivel from the stud in order to remove the stud from the pin. The pin seems nice and sturdy, with a really nice fit on an Aero Precision AR15 lower in FDE cerakote – there is a minute amount of extra length and therefore wobble due to the different tolerances of various lowers. The push button mechanism is solid and isn’t going to budge unless you want it to, but I’m still looking for an R-style hitch pin that’s small enough to secure it. Maybe the best part is you get to avoid another spring + detent with finicky installation – no spring flying out the back out your receiver from under the rear plate, so it makes complete removal of the pin(s) as easy as just another button press. This .250 diameter pin will fit MOST “mil-spec” (or commercial) AR15/M4 type receivers, but if unsure, just ask your manufacturer or check KNS’ website.
