Precision machined on Swiss style turning centers our Ultimate Takedown Pin sets are manufactured from the highest quality materials to the highest standards. They ship complete with our 3D printed rear pin removal tool (RTT). The Patent Pending UPS (Ultimate Pin Set) allows the user to install and remove an AR15 Pivot Pin without the use of a tool. The unique design incorporates a ramped groove that holds the detent in place at the time of installation and another ramp allows access to the retaining slot at 90 to groove. Pins feature Patent Pending aggressively crenulated heads for improved grip, this facilitates easier removal of the pin from the receiver. The rear pin features the same retaining slot and ramp, meaning that it can be removed easily by sliding it to a halfway position and then rotating. This causes the takedown detent to ride up the ramp and onto the outer surface of the pin, making remove extremely simple. QUICKSAFE Their UPS Pin system has a built in safety feature that can be utilized by anyone wanting to make it difficult for an Upper Receiver to be fitted to a Lower Receiver. To render a lower receiver inoperable the user can quickly remove the front Pivot Pin (Spring & Detent) and insert it through the rear Takedown pin hole from the other side of the receiver. Then remove the rear Takedown and allow the Pivot Pin to retain its detent. If the pin is rotated so that the detent registers with the groove on its end then it becomes impossible to remove the pin without removing the castle nut and end plate. It is now impossible to mount an upper receiver group to the lower and have a functioning assembly. Pins are manufactured from 17-4PH stainless steel in H900 condition and then QPQ Nitride finished. I bought these to replace the standard mil-dpec takedown & pivot pins in my S&W M&P15 SII. I ended up going with these because of the steel nitride coating of the pins & KNS detents. I like the cog look and the better pulling out they provide and even have dimples on opposite end for pushing out pins with a punch etc… I also went with these because their made to be installed with nothing more then the pins themselves and a very small wedge/shim like pin that's 3d printed and is called the Rear Takedown Tool (RTT) which is then placed in the Detent channel of the existing pin which is pushed in causing dent to ride up the shim and then rotating the pin so that the detent and new pin can easily be installed with out the need to remove the buffer tube and the pivot pin is even easier to install and with no tools needed. Another cool feature is a security one which you can install the pivot pin in the rear takedown pins place from the opposite side and it will lock the pin in place so it can't be removed and there's no pivot pin in the front rendering the gun un-operational. I haven't tried the security feature myself so I don't know if it's really viable?

I bought the Ti set and they are NOTHING as shown. The longer front pivot pin is supposed to have a hole at the end to aid installing the detent and it's not there. Buyer beware.

Used these on a build that was a nice tight gun. After installing these it was sloppy and jiggly. Made an expensive gun feel cheap and poorly built. The tin coat is rough and damages the passages they slide in and are so short that they don't protrude far enough on the left side of the gun to get a positive push. The installation "tool" is a joke as well. + the springs are shiny.

These pins, as shown in the pics, would be great, but that's not what you get. It appears that the design has changed a couple of times, yet they still sell these with the old pics and marketing material. The first set I bought (the blackened stainless version in February 2020) did not have the ramped T groove cut into both pins, where you depress the detent and insert the pin with the detent fully depressed by any side of the pin. You then walk the detent pin to the T groove and down the ramp, where it drops into the main groove. Reverse the process to remove. The new design had no T channel. The main channel that extends the length of the pin was now ramped from both ends up to a flat spot that is even with the rest of the pin. The flat spot also has a very small circular depression which is for the detent pin to click into place in the very center of the flat spot. The idea is that you pull the pin out and the detent rides the ramp up to the center, where it clicks into place. Then you can rotate the pin, which defeats the captured detent and allows the pin to ride the outside diameter of the pin so it can be removed. This style works, but it's not the same as LanTac shows in all of the pictures, descriptions, instructions, and videos. I emailed LanTac, asking about the changes, but…crickets…I later decided to buy another set of these (blackened stainless again in January 2022). I liked the aesthetics and I could live with the newer style, so I planned to put up with the bait and switch. The 2nd set of these had an "enhanced" pivot pin (the forward one) that only had a ramped cut at the end to allow you to insert the pin without any tools (the first set had this on the front pivot pin, as well), but the main groove, the channel that the detent pin rides in, had no enhancement feature at all. You could install it without tools, but once it was in, the only option was to use the little 3D printed wedge that is included, but is only intended as an installation tool to remove the pin when installing the enhanced pins. The takedown pin (the rear one) had zero enhancement features. The end to end channel was exactly like a regular non-enhanced pin. I looked at the package and it was still the same original package showing the original design, marked as "enhanced" and "toolless", and containing instructions for using pins of the original design. I again reached out to LanTac and, once again…crickets.I returned them and won't consider LanTac products anymore. Still, to this day (a year and a half later) their titanium and QPQ stainless steel models still have the picture, video, description, and instructions for the original version with the T cut groove channel.LanTac put up a new version in a gold titanium nitride finish. If you look closely at the picture, you can see that there is ZERO enhancement features. The rear takedown pin in the background is shown to have nothing but a regular channel from end to end. The front pivot pin in the foreground has the small ramp at the end that aids in installation, but the pin is rotated to hide the main channel, but you can see that, at least on the visible part, the edge of the channel runs end to end with no interruption. The description, video link, instructions, etc. still describe them as toolless. You can see in the picture that the rear takedown pin isn't "enhanced".If I had to guess, I'd bet someone else held the patent for the T channel design and they were forced to change. I later bought a set of Strike Industries Shift Pins that utilize the same design with T channel style operation that work great. I still don't know why they moved from the 2nd design, but now they are little more than glorified takedown and pivot pins that require the same tools to install and remove that a regular set of pins. The only thing different now is the head design and LanTac is being dishonest at the least.
