I have used the T2 heavy buffer (4 ounce) in several builds and have been truly impressed. There is a noticeable reduction in both felt recoil and in the noise generated in the receiver extension typically caused by standard (3 ounce) carbine buffers. The use of powdered tungsten means no annoying rattle and smoother cycling. Note, I am using these in rifles with 16 inch barrels and shooting 55 and 62 grain ammunition.

Great product, worked exactly the way it should for my build. Got the product for a pistol build and had no issues. This is the second one I have used from spikes, and would definitely recommend it for the price and the quality. Plus you just can’t beat how good it looks.

When I first purchased this buffer I didn't know much about building my own AR, all I can say is when I saw it I knew I had to have it just because of the detail that went into it. I love the fact that it came in sleek black with spikes tactical emblem on it, and the fact that it's powdered base instead of the standard hard weights that make sounds when you rock it back and forth.

I got this buffer paired with a jp extra power spring as an experiment, in the hopes of softening up my rifle. Bcm 16" mid leng gas. First off, this seemed well made. I replaced an H1 buffer with this. I didn't notice any bolt slap like I've heard can happen. All in all, it feels as though my rifle does shoot softer. The bcg doesn't fly back quite so forcefully anymore, and the gun doesn't seem to move as much… I'm not a big dude so that movement, though manageable doesn't get absorbed as well by my mass. I noticed a difference in maintaining my sight picture and keeping it on target. The bcg still locks back on the last shot, and brass ejects 3-330 depending on the load. I'm not going to say "Oh my god! My gun is like a brand new man and NOW I can get 7 bulls eyes in .45 seconds thanks to THIS MODIFICATION!" It's definitely not a magic pill, but I will say that my quick follow up shot practice groups have tightened up quite a bit because of the improved handling I feel, enough so to make me happy that I did this.

Tungsten powder. No shakey noise. Ask what you should put in your mid-length gas system, and most will tell you get a spikes T2 and call it a day. It's that easy. Just get it. You might buy a new fancy single buffer/spring all in one thats super quiet. But you'll need this first to figure out your needed weight. And that fancy single all in one unit isn't that much quieter than this and a flat spring.

I combined the T2 with the spikes industry flat wire spring. I have a mid-length gas system. This combo set-up has worked well with my carbine. My brass kick out at 3 to 3:30. The spring load is quite different (stronger) than the round factory spring. That’s the biggest difference that I can appreciate. If you road the charging handle, when closing the bolt, on the round wire it would not completely lock up. It does lock up with the flat wire.
