So the picture doesn't change if you select the standard version. But it is the mil-spec style castle nut sans lightening cut/groove. Good unblemished consistent finish on the part. Two thumbs up to Spike's for not skimping on QC for a basic component.

I've experienced junky castle nuts in the past. This isn't one of them. It's clean, well-made, crisp lines, and has a good finish. They're inexpensive, too. So I keep a few extra in my stash of spare parts. It's a small investment, but definitely worth it.

Solid castle nut that resists smearing. Very nice threading. Perfect. Finish is nice too. Matches my black gun. Very satisfied with the quality. I have spares now. This thing wants more text so….keep your powder dry.

If you have built a few lowers, you probably know how certain parts like castle nuts don't bring the same amount of fizzle as others. I am happy with the quality and I don't see why this castle nut wouldn't hold up to any level of normal use for a very long time. The finish is uniform and certainly adds the little touch that your AR15 friends will be sure to notice. I will certainly consider this for future builds given the price is reasonable. Negligible weight savings for sure, but looks slick! If you are looking to separate your build from the rest, this is a good part for you! Also, STAKE the bloody thing! It doesn't need a huge stake mark either. A small amount of endplate pushed over will be more than enough to keep any castle nut from backing off! Don't be the guy who doesn't stake his nut and loses his rig. 1. Castle nut walks off far enough to allow endplate to separate from lower receiver 2. Rear Takedown detent spring shoots out3. Takedown pin walks out4. Upper receiver pivots forward slamming open and bends pivot pin5. Get the poo-poo scared out of you or worseDon't laugh… this could happen if you don's stake your castle nut. Just stake it. Its not hard to remove a staked nut if its done like a normal person.

I did not think there was a difference in castle nuts, but there is. I put this one in my cart to make my minimum purchase but realized that the parkerized and robust castle nut is heavy duty and is the one ill buy for all my other builds.
