Definitely recommend this item, it works exactly how i expected to. Looks pretty sweet on my gun too, always appreciate everything i purchase from optics planet. Only thing i didnt care for is the FDE color is different from what id like but its fine with me.

While this hard plastic grip is reasonably comfortable in the hand after the residual mold lines are trimmed off, the plastic is brittle and not durable. The hinge on the storage compartment cover broke very quickly (though I was able to use a generic grip plug to replace it, that eliminated the price advantage this had). I do not find the hinged design to be durable at all, and personally much prefer the sliding cover type for durability (though it is possible to “misplace” it in rough terrain – I have begun to coat the inside surface w/fluorescent paint to help w/this). While it seems like the storage compartment is not the primary factor in choosing a grip, carrying a spare parts kit can become hypercritical in the field when a spring suddenly flies away or a pin drops into a rock crevice (though I’ve found a decent neodymium magnet in my tool kit can help keep many of my parts from getting lost in the field). It’s my personal opinion that this grip would work well installed on an AR (or firearm using an AR Pattern grip) which is being built for range or recreational use and that if I was building a firearm for life critical field use I would probably choose a different design out of different materials.
