I believe it is called a hybrid because V Seven uses two different materials in the construction, titanium for the core and aluminum for the small selector handle. I installed this in my Aero Precision M4E1 lower receiver. It was very easy to install even with my disabled hands, due to an illness. It works great and the mil-spec tolerances are tight and the part is light in weight. The only complaint isn't about the V Seven selector but the A.P. M4E1 lower receiver. A.P. makes their M4E1 with a little half circle notch but only on the left side hole of receiver facing the safe position. I believe this is to accommodate some brand of 45 degree selector. The point is that this V Seven selector doesn't quit cover the notch when in the fire position. But does not interfere with the function at all. I would recommend this V Seven selector switch and all their products because although expensive there fit and finish is exceptional. You will be happy with your purchase. Also when doing a light weight build it isn't the weight of the individual part but all the small parts together that saves weight. One more thing while we're talking about safety, the term 'budget build'. That's a fine idea but take your time and do your research use reputable companies with solid in-spec parts made with the right materials. You don't have to buy fancy parts just don't buy cheap unproven parts. Remember, you're not building a toy but a deadly tool, safety first. OK, enough of that, just had to say that being a parent. Happy building.
